Support Groups

Interested in meeting with others with similar loss experiences? Clients tell us that they gather strength from being among those that 'get it'. We offer therapeutic support groups for children, teens and adults. Groups are led by counsellors and especially trained volunteers. for grieving children and teens, and adults living with a palliative cancer diagnosis. 

Children – Kid's Club: Winter Session starts January 26, 2012

An eight week grief group where children, ages 5–12, meet in a safe and supportive place to learn about loss and grief through art, music and play. A parent or guardian component focuses on parenting through grief.

Teens – Dream Catchers: Winter Session starts February 28, 2012

A ten week support group for grieving teens that offers a safe place to explore and express feelings through creative activities.

Mentoring Through Grief – NEW

This new program matches youth, ages 14—24, with bereaved children, ages 5—12. The matches meet as a group once a month to participate in creative activities.

Adults – Living with Cancer Program

Hospice Calgary supports adults and their families who are living with a palliative cancer diagnosis. Each Wednesday the Living with Cancer participants gather with others to focus on maximizing the quality of life and living each day to the fullest. Partcipants are accepted and respected as people, not patients. Physical, emotional and spiritual support is provided by medical staff, registered nurses, counsellors and hospice volunteers. Family and friends are always welcome.
