Welcome to Rosedale Hospice

Rosedale Hospice is Hospice Calgary's residential end-of-life cancer care facility. Our three-story home is located in a quiet residential neighborhood in northwest Calgary. At Rosedale Hospice, private, fully contained rooms ensure peace, intimacy and dignity for patient and family. Comfortable living and sitting rooms, a library, dining room and non-denominational chapel provide patients and visitors with a variety of quiet places to read, talk and reflect. Our door is always open; family and friends of all ages are always welcome.

What We Do

Rosedale Hospice is a quiet, peaceful home where dying individuals and their family and friends can be cared for in a supportive environment. We provide a life affirming alternative to hospitalization and an additional choice for those who find themselves dying at home. At Rosedale Hospice, we focus on quality of life, making what time families have left together, as good as possible.

We ensure that each patient receives professional, specialized medical and nursing care. Patients are assessed on an on-going basis, with care and pain management plans adapted to respond to the patient's changing condition. Emotional and spiritual care and support are also available.

Our concern and attention extends to family and friends as well. We do our best to facilitate time together, and to enable family to be involved in the care of their loved one. Professional counselors, trained volunteers and our chaplain provide emotional and spiritual support or guidance as needed or requested.

Our People

At Rosedale Hospice, we have a full complement of registered nurses and personal care attendants who are specially trained in end-of-life cancer care. They work together with our medical director and carefully prepared hospice volunteers to ensure that each client and family receives individualized, 24-hour care. Professional counselors and our chaplain are also available as part of our inter-disciplinary team.

Admission Criteria

Rosedale Hospice is a hospice care residence for adult cancer patients who:
> require end-of-life care and who do not want extraordinary measures
> wish to focus on comfort treatment and for whom active curative treatment has been discontinued
> have been evaluated and referred by palliative care teams in hospitals or home-care programs
