Hospice Calgary

During Illness

Our trained professionals (counsellors and nursing staff) can meet with you and your loved ones - children, teens and adults - to discuss those issues foremost on your mind. People often seek guidance about a range of current and future needs: counselling services, advocacy, connecting with other families.  We can help.

Family Counselling Support

Individual and family support for those who are coping with a loved one’s serious illness. Counsellors are available to meet in the home, hospital, hospice, school or at our Counselling & Education Centre.

It is natural to be concerned or uncertain about how to reach out to your family when you are coping with the life-threatening illness of a loved one. You may feel your family is managing well, yet still want the reassurance of professional support.

Our professional counsellors specialize in working with children and teens in a ‘child friendly’ manner. Counselling sessions may include play, artwork, writing or other activities that stimulate the expression of feelings. Our team is available to meet with children at their home, school, hospital, hospice, or at our Counselling & Education Centre.

Spiritual Care and Support

EVERYONE IS SPIRITUAL - WHETHER THEY GO TO CHURCH OR NOT

Spirituality is reflected in each person's deepest beliefs and their values and activities.  Hospice Calgary is a non-denominational organization that offers spiritual care services for those who request it. Spiritual care provides continuity and support for those who practice a specific faith. It also provides support and care for those who follow an individual or non-religious path.

At Hospice Calgary, the Spiritual Care Coordinator is a gentle companion, helping individuals and families in their efforts to set their affairs in order, find comfort and approach greater meaning and peace in their journey through serious illness or toward the conclusion of life.  For additional information about our Spiritual Care Services, please contact Carol Barwick at (403) 284-5195.
