When Caring Hurts Too Much: Vicarious Trauma & Compassion Fatigue

This workshop is for:  professionals or volunteers working in schools, health care, counselling, or pastoral care settings supporting individuals experiencing grief and loss.

Qualifies for six (6) Continuing Education Category "A" Credits for Social Workers.  

Learning Objectives:

  • To develop and build on a general understanding of Vicarious Trauma, Compassion Fatigue, Stress and Burn out.
  • To integrate the concept of mindfulness as a foundation upon which Vicarious Trauma and Compassion Fatigue can be prevented and managed.
  • To learn a variety of other self care tools and strategies.

Good Grief Level 1: Introduction to Child and Teen Grief & Loss

Description: This workshop will focus on the needs and experiences of  grieving children and teens . Their family may be faced with sudden or expected death, or  the life-threatening illness of a family member or close friend.

This workshop is for professionals or volunteers working in schools, health care, counselling, or pastoral care settings supporting individuals experiencing grief and loss.

Good Grief Level 2 : Assessment & Advanced Interventions

Description:  This workshop will focus on the assessment and advanced interventions useful when supporting grieving children and teens. Their family may be living with a life-threatening illness or they may be grieving a sudden or expected death of a family member or close friend.

Date: Monday, February 1, 2013, 9:00am to 4:00pm
Location: Hospice Calgary Counselling & Education Centre

Cost: $125 includes handout materials, refreshments and snacks
Qualifies for six (6) Continuing Education Category "A" Credits for Social Workers.

This workshop is for Teachers, counsellors, nurses, psychologists, and social workers and those who have completed our Good Grief Level 1 Workshop (or equivalent).
